Corsair TX750W Power Supply Review
About a year ago, we had the chance to review a power supply from Corsair, who is typically known for their memory and cooling products. At that time, we were impressed with their performance and quiet operations. Corsair has continued to develop power products in the meantime and has sent us one of their newer supplies, the Corsair TX750W Power Supply. Will this supply prove that Corsair is serious about becoming a player in the power supply market? We will attempt to answer that question in this review.
About Corsair:
Corsair has been a leader in the design and manufacture of high-speed modules since 1994. Our focus has always been on supporting the special demands of mission-critical servers and high-end workstations, as well as the performance demands of extreme gamers.
As a pioneer in high-speed module design, Corsair is a trusted supplier to many computer manufacturers. In high-density memory solutions, Corsair has always been one of the first suppliers to achieve advanced qualifications on Intel, Tyan and SuperMicro server platforms. We also work closely with other major server platform manufacturers to release product that is 100% compatible with their latest server products.

The Corsair TX750W Power Supply arrived in a colorful box displaying a picture of the supply. The package also provides a list of features/specifications and a graph showing the supply’s noise (fan speed) as a function of output. One of the main features of this supply is that it is a switch mode power supply. As you might be able to see, the fan speed varies depending on the output, with a very quiet profile at voltages below ~400W. Another thing to note is that Corsair offers a 5 year warranty with the supply, which is a lengthy amount of time and helpful since latent defects can take a while to show.

Opening up the package, the power supply can be found nestled snugly surrounded by custom foam supports and also enclosed in a nice velvet bag. The bag is a little extravagant but adds a nice touch. Along with the supply itself, the package comes with a power cable, cable ties, screws, and an instruction manual.

Taking a closer look at the PSU, the unit has a nice black matte exterior with a single large cooling fan, 140 mm in size. Judging by the fit of the fan in the unit, the fan is about as big as you can fit into an ATX power supply.

As you can see, all of the power supply’s cables are hard-wired onto the supply instead of being modular. While I enjoy the convenience of modular cables, they typically add more resistance and thus decrease the efficiency of the supply. The panel lists the various rail outputs, with the 3.3V rail rated at 30A, the 5V rated at 26A, and the single 12V rails rated at 60A. As the name suggests, this power supply has a maximum output of 750W.
