Corsair Twin2X 2048-8888C4DF DDR2 Ram Kit
The time has come to start switching to DDR2 ram. The timings are lower than ever and the buss speeds higher. On top of this the prices on DDR2 has gone down alot lately compared to what it was 6 months ago. Maybe Corsair has something new and fast we thought and got in touch with them. Turns out they did, and we got a sample of their Twin2x 8888 ram kits that we will be testing during this review.
Corsair is well known for their fast performing and stable ram kits which have made them to be on top of the market when it comes to performance ram so it will be very interesting to see how this kit will perform.

The memory kit itself comes packed in a white box with a Corsair print on top of the box. Inside you have the memory sticks laying in foam to prevent any damage to them during shipping.
On the right side there is a smaller box which contains the fans that can be mounted on top of the memory.

To keep the memory kit cool they have decided to build a small "fan rack" which holds three 40 mm fans. You connect the power cable to a 3 pin connector on the motherboard so you don't get any extra cables to the power supply itself. The slip of paper also explains how to mount the rack on the fan slots.

The fan rack itself is high quality, it mounts quite easy on the ram slots if you mount it the right way and it cowers both coolers. As we can also see the ram sticks themselves have a black hetsink on them and a sticker that tells you what type of ram it is.

As we can see the sticker tells you exactly all the info you will need about the memory stick. It's one of the faster kits out there right now according to the specifications, but does it perform well?
It is almost time to test them out but before that I just have to mention something about the right picture. As we can see I had a Coolermaster Mars mounted on the motherboard while taking pictures and it's quite a bit cooler and if you look close the fan bracket will not fit over the ram due to the size of the cpu cooler. What I want to say is check that it fits on your motherboard before buying the kit if you plan on using the fans.
