Belkin 8in1 media reader USB 2

Please click on thumbnails to get bigger pictures

Here we have a example for you how it can look like when having some media mounted.

Testing:

Testing was done on the following rig:
AMD XP 2600+
Albatron KX18Dpro2
256 mb Corsair 3200LL
Geforce 4 mx
Maxtor 20 gig DMA100
Liteon 16*10*40 CDRW

We are testing this media reader against the older USB 1.1 media reader from Belkin. Testing was done with Sisoft Sandra 2004 file system benchmark.

First we have the results with the old USB 1 media reader.

The numbers say everything that needs to be said. We can see that USB2 gives you ALOT faster transfer speeds. 728 kb/s vs USB2 with 4021 kb/s shows a major difference.

Installation:

Installation was very easy under WinXP since you just have to plug it in and it's ready to run. Under Win98 you have to install drivers that can be found on the CD that comes along with this product.

Conclusion:

This media reader is a great update from the now old USB1 media reader that Belkin released a year ago. USB2 is QUITE a bit faster as we can see by the testing results. The testing says everything already and there is not much I can add to this conclusion. It's very small and fits pretty much anywhere so it's convienient. It also looks great so it gives a nice look to your computer table with the black and silver color scheme. Rbmods gives this product 5 out of 5 and a recommendation for a great product that is very fast and which has taken over the job from the older brother.

Pros:

+ Fast
+ Small
+ Looks good
+ Takes 8 different media

Cons:

- Could have been even smaller if we are to be picky :)

Red&Blackness gives it 5 out of 5 dots
