ATP Toughdrive and Petito USB Drive

The problem with most durable usb flash drives is that they are quite big as they have various steel cases or padding. ATP has released something that might change the market. They sent us a sample of their Toughdrive and Petito drive, they are both waterproof and the Toughdrive is durable as the name states. We are going to put it through some rough testing and see if it will survive our tests.

About ATP:

Established in 1991, ATP Electronics, Inc. has always been a leading flash memory products manufacturer with industry leading design and production technology. Specializing in highest density and robust IC packaging, ATP offers a complete line of highly durable and reliable flash digital storage products.

ATP System-In-Package (SIP) Flash card manufacturing process is the backbone to our superior build quality and durability. The industry leading SIP process involves advanced wire bonding, stacking, and encapsulation stages which make ATP products more consistently durable and reliable.

The industry leading manufacturing technology has enabled ATP to be the first to market on flash products such as the ultra high speed, Class 6 ProMax 4GB SDHC (SD High Capacity) card. Continuing this trend ATP will soon be the first in the world to release an 8GB SDHC.

The ATP name continues to grow through both retail and OEM sales channels. With multiple offices in the United States, Asia, and Europe, ATP offers worldwide support in both engineering and sales. ATP adheres to the strict ISO9001 QA standards for quality and compatibility. All ATP memory products are RoHs, CE, and FCC approved.

First up today we got the black Toughdrive stick. This stick comes packed in a plastic cover with some pictures on the front and on the back they have printed specifications and info. You can see the Toughdrive due to the packing which might interest the buyer a bit more, we can for example see it is very small and has a nice black rubber casing.

The length of this stick is 75mm which is the smallest device I have reviewed so far. It is also 11 mm thick which means it is also the thinnest device. By removing the protective cap you unveil the USB connector which you plug into your computer, when the drive is connected and working a blue led will flash that is mounted in the middle of the USB stick.

Petito:

It is time for us to take a look a the Petito drive which as the name says focuses on the female part of the market. The device is packed the same way as the Toughdrive with some specifications on the back of the package. What is remarkable is that this usb stick seems even smaller than the Toughdrive and it also got a pin case around it.
