Asus VK246H LCD Monitor Review

Our flat screens keep growing in size all the time and today a 22 inch monitor is almost standard for the normal user while the hardcore gamers are even higher up at 24 inch. Todays review will be on a 24 inch monitor from Asus. This new VK246H seems to be a good monitor on the paper with HDMI and 2 ms response time. It also has a built in webcam on the top and to finish the package it has a nice glossy black color. The question is though, how will it perform and will it have any back bleed?

The monitor comes packed in a big box where the monitor is packed in foam to protect both the display and the monitor part. As we can see this is a good sized monitor with a webcam on the top, it is equipped with a round foot but it feels steady and stable on the table. I personally prefer the "V" shaped feet as I think they look better.

I did not remove the plastic of the cam before taking this picture but it's a 1.3 megapixel webcam. The first con popped up when trying to install the software for it, apparently it does not work with Vista 64 bits and there is no software to download either for it. The "control panel" on the monitor has nice silver colored buttons. They have not mounted touch buttons on this which I find quite good as I like to feel when I push the buttons, these buttons will make a small click when you push them but are easy to use in the menus.
