Apevia As550w-bk Power Supply
We met Aspire or as they are now known as Apevia at Cebit 2006 and had a nice discussion which led us into starting to review their products.
This is our first Apevia review and as they were kind enough to send us their 550W power supply for review.
They have named is As550W-bk which seems to have some good specifications such as two 12v rails with 17 and 19 amps each.
We will compare this in our testing vs good performers as Ocz Powerstream and a Zalman PSU.

The product came packed in a very nice box with pictures of different power supplys in the Chameleon series as this one.
Inside the power supply is packed in a small plastic bag to protect from dents and scratches. As we can see on the right picture the power supply has green sleeving around the cables and the power supply itself is black. The sides are equipped with ventilation holes to keep the PSU stable and able to keep the heat out.

The specifications look quite good I have to admit but the question still remains how stable are the rails?
In the back you have a On/off button that is also "painted" in UV reactive paint as the sleeving on the cables.
There is a fan controller mounted also so you can turn down the fan speed to run a quieter power supply.
