Asetek Antarctica Socket 775 waterblock

We used some PVC tubing in our testing as you can see on the left picture. After the thermal paste burned in a bit and the air was pumped out of the system we installed this software included with the pump that shows tons of different temperatures and actions that the pump can do and which it is doing. This is a really nice edition to the pump by including this really well made software that will help everyone out when they want to check the temperatures on their system, and a bunch of the temperatures you can choose yourself since you can mount the tempererature sensors wherever you want in your system.

Testing:

Well we have reviewed the Antarctica waterblock before with a Eheim 1048 pump so we decided to try again and see what difference we get with this new pump and a Eheim and a external tank. After some testing and some more testing the results show that temperature difference is minimal, we got 0,5 celsius differnce and that can be because of temperature differences also while testing. You save space by not having to have an extra tank in your rig by using this new pump. I'm starting to like the push on fittings that Asetek uses, they feel more secure than the hose clamps used on old fashioned fittings. What about the noise then? It makes as much noise as a Eheim 1048 so basically nothing if you have some padding under it, this one comes with rubber feet so you don't have to worry about vibrations which pumps usually make.

Conclusion:

I think I have said all that there is to say about this specific pump. It works as well as the high quality Eheim pumps, if not even better. Having a combined pump and tank is a great way of saving space especially if you can have the same performance, I know that Eheim had a tank you could combine their pumps with but they made alot of noise and they were so small the water heated up after awhile, this is not the case with this new pump. The manual tells you all the steps for installation and the software is amazingly helpful and shows alot of temperatures which gives you less worries about heat issues. Also, it was well packed and the addtional led and display you can plug into this pump is very cool I have to say. You also save on fan connectors since you can connect two fans to the pump right away so the radiator fans can run straight from the pump. Overall we give this pump 5 out of 5 and our recommendations for a great combo of pump/tank which still performs very well and gives you a stable temperature in your system.

Pros: + Good looking
+ Well packed
+ Amazing software
+ Optional led/display
+ Fan connectors
+ Performs well
+ Quiet

Cons:

- None this far

Red&Blackness gives it 5 out of 5 dots
