Arctic Cooling Turbo Module VGA Cooler Add-on Review
A few months ago, we had a chance to review the Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 video card cooler, which we found to be an innovative and solidly performing cooler despite its passive nature. We also wondered how it would perform if a fan were added to the mix. Well, thanks to the folks at Arctic Cooling, well-known makers of a wide range of cooling products, we get a chance to answer that question as we take a look at the Artic Cooling Turbo Module VGA Cooler add-on. This unit is designed to work together with the Accelero S1 and S2 to deliver even better cooling performance. Is it worth the hassle? Read on to find out.

The Arctic Cooling Turbo Module VGA Cooler Add-on comes well-packaged in a clear plastic package with the dual-fan module prominently displayed on the front. The back provides a glimpse of the back of the two fans along with some performance numbers.

Opening the package, the module is easily extracted from the package. What you see in the package is basically what you get; there are two fans connected by wires and a 3-pin fan power connector. There is also a 3-to-4 pin adapter, which I found is necessary since the length of the 3-pin connector a little on the short side. If you have to plug it into the motherboard, you might have some cable length issues.

The fans have a nice glossy finish yet are fairly plain; the one thing to notice is that there are no finger guards on the cooler. This shouldn’t be a problem, because I don’t think I’ve ever installed a video card with the power on. Yet you do have to be careful if you ever stick you hand inside the computer while its on. There are no LEDs or any extra features on the fans, and the unique attachment brackets are designed only for the Accelero S1 and S2, limiting their versatility.

To test out the Turbo Module, I installed both the module and the previously tested Accelero S2 on the same 7600GS video card. Installing the turbo module onto the video card is easy; simply line up the fan tabs in between the Accelero’s radiator fins and press down.
