Arctic cooling Freezer 64 Cpu cooler
Today I'll be taking a look at Arctic Coolings new Freezer 64 Pro, with revisions over the Freezer 64 promising better cooling with even less noise. How will the new version fair up to the much bigger and more expensive CNPS7000 from Zalman. Stick around, let's see exactly how well it fairs.

The box the cooler came in gives plenty of information on the product. The box included pictures and tech specs as well as an air flow chart. Enclosed are simple installation instructions as well as the nicely packed heatsink.

The Freezer 64 Pro came with a pre-applied thermal paste, sleeved fan cable, and a retention clip. Since the heatsink is designed specifically for socket 754/939/940, there’s only need for a single retention clip so it’s already been attached. The thermal compound used is Arctic Coolings MX-1.

In these pictures you can see what sets the 64 Pro apart from other Heatpipe coolers. The open fan cage is designed to not only pull air in from the front, but also pulling it in from the sides. This allows the for air flow to pass over surrounding components while keeping with the front to back flow in the case. With the bent fins on the back, it forces air towards the motherboard, once again sending a flow of air over any components placed behind the cpu. In the second picture you will notice the fan is actually connected to the rest of the heatsink with rubber connectors. This eliminates virtually all noise caused by fan vibration and allows you to run the fan at higher RPMS, thus producing more airflow, while still running a silent case.
